i honestly don’t rly vibe with the backlash toward the term content creator, like… i am a creator… that makes content……… i know to some ppl it comes off as seeing creatives as content machines but. what i make is, in fact, content,,,,,, and esp as someone who makes art, vids, gifs, fic, and more, i like having one neat term to wrap it all up in . idk, if anyone has alternative terms go for it but personally i just. don’t think any of the problems surrounding it are with the term itself but just with certain elements of fan culture tm itself.

Agreed. Like yeah, to a certain extent “artist” can cover what all I do - but it’s also a term a lot of people expect to refer to certain types of content over others. Being a writer or GIF-maker is being an artist, and at the same time, “artist” isn’t really the word I’d use to describe me when I’m writing or making GIFs, you feel me? People tend to expect the word “artist” refers to the visual arts and “content creator” can be a super useful reference word to cover many different forms of engagement.

yeah! my thoughts exactly. i feel like it just gets confusing trying to have “artist” cover both the specific visual medium and everything. it also kinda feels unfair for visual artists to have to share the term when “content creator” is already all-encompassing without encroaching
